Hello and welcome! My name is Alex Sanchez. I’m looking to change my life as well as the lives of the men and women who have served our country. I like countless veterans deal with the impact of war and have done so privately. At my core, I believe in the notion that we pull ourselves up from our bootstraps.
For decades, I changed course every time life got hard. Never, stopping to ask why it was tougher for me. Struggle in a career, Retrain, change fields, struggle in a new career, retrain change fields, change employers. In a two-decade-long endless loop. If it were not for my having married a competent spouse I would have been at risk of homelessness or worse.
That support, however, disappeared one day and I found myself losing hope. Like way too many veterans falling closer to the abyss each day. Till fate would have it, I ran across some incredible veterans who got me to finally come to a powerful realization. I was carrying with me the impact of war.
The process of getting on the right path involved a two-year application process and almost a dozen exams that impacted my employment and brought back the things that I fought hard to bury and ignore. The end result was a conditional favorable ruling. On the anxiety-riddled day, I prayed for the peace of mind to accept the ruling result I made a mental note that we desperately need to find a better way.
